Last night in the MOCA-Jax gallery I received the Ann McDonald Baker Art Ventures Award from the Community Foundation for Northeast Florida. This is the highest honor I have ever received, and I am truly touched and humbled to be a recipient. There are many people and organizations who have contributed to my journey and I hope that they share my excitement and gratitude.
The press release for the award can be found here.
The award was presented in the 3rd floor gallery where my exhibit Structure of Nature | Nature of Structure is currently on display. This was completely coincidental, and I was happy to be surrounded by some of my projects. Those in attendance were all members of The Community Foundation board of directors.
As I reflect upon this year I’m truly grateful for all the support I’ve received from everyone, and the opportunity to meet new people and initiate new ideas. Awards and recognition are not necessary for moving forward but are appreciated and treasured as moments to remember.
