Sky-River

"Sky-River" was part of an exhibition “A River Speaks” shown at the Lufrano Intercultural Gallery at the University of North Florida in January-March, 2016. The show was organized by artist Jim Draper and features work by Jim, Paul Ladnier, Allison Watcon and me. “Sky-River” was developed from a selection of photographs taken at the County Dock in Mandarin, a few miles from my home. I stop there now and then to catch a sunset or watch the weather change. It never disappoints.

In October, 2016, Hurricane Matthew damaged the dock and caused it to close for an undetermined period. As of today (July, 2017) it remains closed. Access to our river is severely limited and views like these can only be enjoyed by privileged water-front property owners. I hope that the dock opens soon.
